United Nations – Nippon Foundation Fellowship Alumni

On 27 September – 2 October 2009 the UNITAR organized training course on Sea and Human Security “Governance Toward a Comprehensive Security for Sea and the Ocean: the Hiroshima Initiative” in Hiroshima, Japan. Ms. Nopparat Nasuchon, an alumnus of 2008-2009 batch, was one of  participants. The workshop designed to focus on sea and human security that related to economic, political, environmental and nutritional ramifications and further develop the concept embodied in the initiative and to envision the next steps for all who took part. The session again benefited from the knowledge of the network of experts. The workshop was attended by a total of 20 participants and 4 observers from 12 countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

Dear Colleagues

We are two of this year’s UN/ Nippon Fellows currently undergoing the second phase of the Programme at DOALOS. We wish to seek your feedback regarding a proposal to hold the captioned meeting, tentatively, within the Latin American and Caribbean Region during the first quarter or the first half of 2010. We were wondering how many of the Latin American and Caribbean alumni would be willing and able to attend such a meeting. We would be grateful for input as to your likely participation and any other feedback you may wish to provide.

Somos dos colegas que en la actualidad participamos en la segunda fase del Programa de las NU/Nippon en DOALOS. Deseamos conocer su reaccion con relacion a la propuesta de celebrar la reunion indicada arriba, tentativamente, en la region de Latinoamerica y el Caribe durante el primer trimestre o semestre de 2010. Estabamos pensando cuantos alumni de Latinoamerica y el Caribe querrian o podrian participar en la mencionada reunion.
