Ms. Akwilapo graduated in the year 2001 from the University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) with a Master of Science in Marine Biology. She is currently working for the Tanzania National Environment Management Council as a Senior Environment Management Officer. Among several mandates, she assists the coordination of East Africa Marine Ecoregion activities in Tanzania, including with the implementation of planned activities, protection of trans-boundary ecosystems and prohibition of foreign fishing in territorial waters, by-laws concerning natural resource utilization, monitoring and ecosystem utilization.
