This is the official website of the Alumni Network of the United Nations – Nippon Foundation of Japan Fellowship Program on ocean affairs and Law of the Sea. The Alumni consists of highly qualified professionals from different regions of the world working in ocean and coastal management in developing countries or academia. A shared passion for the oceans has brought us together through the training and capacity opportunity offered by the United Nations – Nippon Foundation of Japan Fellowship Program.
The United Nations-Nippon Foundation Fellowship alumni counts 120 experts to date, based in 71 developing coastal states, with different backgrounds such as lawyers, academics, government officials, political scientists, as well as experts in the natural and physical sciences. The work of the alumni examines a wide range of issues including maritime boundary delimitation and delineation, maritime security and safety, ecosystem-based fisheries management, ocean governance (legal, political and institutional) and professional skills development.
This website serves as an online gateway office for sharing information amongst and between Alumni and current Fellows, and also with our institutional partners to foster and encourage collaboration on issues of common interest. It also is an outreach platform through which Alumni, Fellows and institutional partners share their work, important developments in ocean and coastal management, and opinion on current oceans issues, with the general public.
In addition to the benefit this website will give to all alumni, it also provides important and useful information for current and future fellows. Please do not hesitate to contact the alumni representative for further information.
