About Maria Cecilia de Castro
I am an Officer from Brazilian Navy, bachelor in Oceanography by the Rio de Janeiro State University with Master Degree in Environmental Engineering also by the Rio de Janeiro State University.
Since 2003 I have been working in the Brazilian Maritime Authority, first as an advisor in the Environmental Department from Directorate of Ports and Coast , Brazil's Navy, where I had the opportunity to act as the rapporteur of the Brazilian Regulation on Ballast Water, adopted in 2005. In the year 2010, I took over the function of coordinator of the Executive Secretariat of International Maritime Organization Matters Coordinator Commission (Sec-IMO) in marine environment issues, especially related to the Bulk Liquids and Gases Sub-Committee and London Convention.
