German Government grants the Mesoamerican Reef Region Fund $13.05 million in endowment funds
In acknowledgement of the MAR Fund’s leadership in transnational conservation, and with the objective of preserving biodiversity in the MAR region, the German Government, through KfW, has awarded the MAR Fund €10 million (approximately $13.05 million) in endowment funds.
The MAR Fund’s endowment will help ensure a steady flow of financial resources to conservation initiatives in the Mesoamerican Reef region through support for its Small Grants and Community Fisheries Programs. Earnings from the endowment fund will also finance core operations, enabling the MAR Fund to spend more time fundraising for programmatic activities.
Building an endowment fund has been one of the MAR Fund’s goals since its founding, and after six years of operating in the region, we are thrilled to have achieved this goal.
