About / Bio
Mrs Riambatosoa Rakotondrazafy got her 2nd Masters degree (Diplome d’Etudes Approfondies) in Geography at the University of Antananarivo in 2011.
From 2010 to 2011, she has worked for a US national science Foundation-founded project:” Adapting Madagascar’s Marine Protected Areas to Threats from Climate Change”. She supported a long and arduous data entering and quality control process of socio-economic data collected in the field. The outcome of the study is the calculation of the total economic value of ecosystem services, such as drinking water provision and carbon sequestration. She was also in charge of gathering national fisheries statistics, summarizing the literature, and arranging research permits.

She is now working at the Ministry of Environment and Forests on the project: “Madagascar Preparation of the Third National Communication under United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)”, as a Project Assistant. The key component of that project includes a national inventory of Greenhouse Gases, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change, and analysis of greenhouse gases mitigations options.

Apart from that, she attended some international training on Marine Affairs, such as:
- The International Training Program on “Ocean governance: Law, Policy, Management” with the International Ocean Institute and the Dalhousie University of Halifax in Canada.
- “Advanced training on Marine Spatial Planning for the pacific Rim” with the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in China
- “International Training Course on Mangrove Biodiversity and Ecosystems” with Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute in Kenya.
- “Biodiversity: the diversity of ecosystems, genes, and species” at the University of Osnabruck – Germany
