Ms. Gloria Yona is a Tanzanian with MSc. in Aquaculture graduated in 2004 from Gent University, Belgium. Currently, Gloria Yona is working with Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI) as a research officer. In additional to her fisheries research responsibilities, Gloria is National component 5 coordinator (Mainstreaming of marine biodiversity) of the SWIOFP (South West Indian Ocean Fisheries Project). The main focus of the SWIOFP component 5 is the conservation of endangered marine species mainly whales, dolphins, sharks, turtles and marine birds at national level and regionally
